Annette Schmucker
I live with my family in Aulendorf. Until the year 2000 I worked as a doctor. I have been enthusiastic about painting since my childhood.
As an autodidact I work out of the consciousness that I am not obligated to anyone. I do not have to go for an “individual handwriting” and do not paint in a certain direction. A strict “judge” about my pictures is only myself.
This large open space gives me a lot of room for ever new picture ideas.
I love diversity in painting and I am always concerned with completely different topics and techniques. Very often, I also work on many different techniques and images simultaneously. I do not want to follow a single set line. In the case of very diverse motives and techniques, an overarching commonality of my pictures is the imagery and the expression: My concern is to depict light, expanse and space. I work with concrete as well as abstract motives, and I like to combine both. At the moment I mainly deal with the topic of human beings and I connect the concrete representation with abstraction. The figures are integrated into abstracted spaces where you can find the theme of light and space.
The techniques I use are manifold: Because of their brilliance, the oil color plays a major role in most pictures. But the combination of oil paint with acrylic paint to new experimental techniques I appreciate, especially in the abstracted images. Almost all pictures are constructed in many translucent superimposed layers.
